Kobe Cares Campaign

The Kobe Cares Campaign is an engaging, school-wide character education and service-learning initiative designed to accompany the book Kobe the Koala and the School Bus Mission. Created for students in grades K–5, the campaign empowers children to turn kindness, safety, responsibility, and courage into real-world action—at school, at home, and in their communities.

At the heart of the program is Kobe, a brave and compassionate koala who models what it means to notice a problem, speak up, and lead positive change. After reading the story, students launch their own Care Campaign, choosing a meaningful cause such as improving school bus safety, helping classmates, cleaning up shared spaces, collecting for community food pantries, or supporting local charities.

Through guided discussions, hands-on projects, reflection activities, and creative presentations, students learn:

  • What it means to take on a mission
  • How to be brave by speaking up for what’s right
  • How a campaign can create lasting positive change
  • The program includes:
  • Classroom and school-wide implementation options
  • A structured planning template for student campaigns
  • Writing and creative reflection extensions by grade level
  • A badge or pin incentive to honor students who complete their Care Campaign
  • A social media extension using the hashtag #KobeCares to celebrate student impact (as permitted)

The Kobe Cares Campaign is especially powerful when paired with school transportation teams, reinforcing safety, respect, and responsibility on the school bus and beyond. By connecting literacy to leadership and service, the campaign helps students see that even small actions can make a big difference.
